FOOT AND MOUTH CRISIS
The following was issued by the Milton Keynes Angling Association. We recommend other clubs do the same …

Water closures - updated 1 March 2001
All MKAA waters are closed with the exception of the following:
Ouzel back of Willen and the Ouse back of Bradwell Lake. Willen, Furzton, Caldecotte, Lodge, Bradwell and Jubilee lakes, and Tear drops still waters are open. Canal is a mixed bag. Look for MAFF closure notices at entry to towpath, and if in doubt...please don't."
During the current national FOOT & MOUTH disease emergency we have CLOSED all our waters with the exception of those listed above to avoid any risk that we may be responsible for spreading this terrible virus.
The North Oxford and Felmersham reciprocal waters are also closed.
The list may have to be modified as circumstances dictate. In the meantime we ask all anglers to co-operate and STAY OFF of any farmland where there are grazing animals, or where animals are sometimes grazed.
The simple rule is: If in doubt - DON'T!
Foot & Mouth is an horrific disease. Not only can it wipe out farmer's livelihoods through enforced destruction of whole herds and flocks, but in some cases the ministry can order the destruction of all mammal and bird wildlife within a certain radius to try and prevent Foot & Mouth spreading.
We are sure that NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would want to increase the risk of an outbreak.
We apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused due to circumstances beyond our control, and thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.
