Pike tips
When using treble hooks for pike, flatten two of the three barbs with a pair of pliers. Use the one barbed hook on each of the trebles to keep the bait on, but leave any exposed hooks “barbless”. This will make unhooking the fish far easier.
Take a pair of long-nosed pliers or forceps with you for unhooking and a strong pair of gloves to protect your hands.
A pike’s teeth are long and razor sharp, and regularly cause injury to “less experienced” anglers.
