THE PERCH This greedy chap is caught fairly easily in most rivers and lakes throughout the UK. Catching larger Perch however, is not always so easy. In clear-water lakes that are not heavily fished, perch can sometimes be seen near the bank where there is deep water and cover such as tree-roots, or near small artifical dams or jettys. They can be caught with carefull stalking and the use of an extra-lively worm or minoow on fine tackle; but perch have sharp eyes and are sensitive to vibrations, and great care must be taken not to alarm them. In the majority of waters a 2lb’er is a good fish and a fish of 3lbs is exceptional.
