Classic casts its net far and wide Anglers from 10 different countries are preparing to do battle in the £25,000 Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic next month. A total of 220 carp specialists from Poland, England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Wales, France and the Czech Republic will descend on Lac Amance from October 29 to 31, determined to make off with the £10,000 first prize. But for those pairs who miss out on the top cash prize there will still be a lot to play for. Section sponsors have provided prizes in each section and with other competitions running throughout the three days, there are even more rewards to be gained. It’s possible that around 70 anglers will go home with a prize of some sort. Tournament director Chris New said: “With the huge support we have received from our many sponsors this year, the Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic 2004 will be the biggest yet – and the most rewarding, with three times as many prizes on offer as last year. “The event has been sold out for a couple of months now and we are already taking enquiries for next year’s competition. Lac Amance is a fine venue and we believe the competitors will enjoy the whole experience immensely. “We wish them all the best of luck.” Now moving into its sixth year, the Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic brings together carp anglers from all across the world to compete for a £10,000 first prize. The 2004 Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic returns to the record-breaking Lac Amance, Foret d’Orient, in the Champagne region of France, scene of the most prolific World Carp Classic to date. In the 2001 event, the 200-plus international field caught nearly 1 TON of carp! The Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic is a unique 66-hour enduro event fished over three nights with four rods per pair. In addition to the fishing the event has also made a name for itself with the ever-popular pre-match BBQ and party – and 2004 will be no different. For the second year running the event will have an official marshalling team from Sparsholt, the specialist fishing college. A new website at www.worldcarpclassic.com is keeping competitors informed of developments.
