Llyn Y Gors fishing well over Easter
Fishing did not disappoint over the easter weekend with big nets of fish aswell as some cracking specimens. The Howard family spent a week in Cedar Lodge and plenty of fish on the Match and Pleasure lakes. Jeff Howard and his father Bob caught no less than 30 lb every day catching constantly on a variety of baits including pellet, corn, paste and maggot. It was son Rob who had the biggest weights as he had more than 100 lb of carp on two occasions and needed help to lift his net from the water. Rob landed the carp on corn, maggot and pellet, changing his bait after every couple of fish. Well done to all the Howard family.
Youngster Adam Greenwood spent a week on Thompson's Pool landing himself a stunning 23 lb mirror. Adam who caught his personal best 28 lb mirror on Thompson's last year could not wait to get another chance to fish and was very pleased with his results. Adam fished "The Double Bay" on Indian Spice pop-up.
Ian Walker fished Thompson's with his friend "Smithy" (pictured) and they both banked fish, Ian helped himself to moriarty weighing 19 lb, whilst "Smithy" slid his net under a common of 22 lb 10 oz. Ian fished "The Nightmare" swim, Indian Spice again the bait of the moment, "Smithy" fished across the way in "The Aquarium" and caught his on Squid and Octopus Pop-Up.
Barrie Thomas tempted a mirror of 23 lb on his MB Baits shellfish and Black extract boilies. Barrie fished "The Nightmare" and also reported losing a good 20 at the net. Joe Hobbs caught a ghostie of 18 lb during his 48 hour session. Joe chose "The Well" swim and fished Mainline maple 8 pop-up.
Campsite resident Derek Hart fancied the Old Carp Lake over the Easter period and was joined by his friend Ian Fisher. Derek set up on "The Point" and landed three fish up to 12 lb, losing five fish. Ian caught eight fish and lost eight during his 48 hour session on "The Cliffs". Ian fished the new Smart Bait GLM boilies and Derek chose Nash Formula Fish, both doing very well indeed.
