Good fishing during Winter months at Llyn y gors
Local angler Wesley Williams caught his first fish since turning his attention to specimen carp fishing. Wes fished alongside Nick Slater on the Old Carp Lake and Nick was on hand to help net a lovely 8 lb common. Wes fished Nash B2 boilies. Tony Edgar had a hat-trick of mirrors including an 7 lb 8 oz, 10 lb 7 oz and the biggest of session a chunky looking 13 lb 8 oz. Tony fished a Nash B2 and Elite Baits Christmas Cracker on a "D" rig. Lee Thomas caught a 7 lb mirror during a night session on "The Point", Lee fished Nash Tangee Squid boilies.
John Aspinall banked an immaculate looking 19 lb mirror (pictured) during a 24 hour session on Thompson's Pool. John set up in the "Aquarium" fishing close to the margins picking the fish up from a spot which he had pre-baited. It shows that preparation before your session can really pay off. John opted for Solar BYT boilies presented over a bed of crushed boilies and pellets.
The match and pleasure lakes continue to fish well. Plenty of carp showing on luncheon meat and 10 mm boilies. Barbel to 2 lb can be caught on meat. Maggots for the roach, perch, rudd and chub.
