Cheshire Fishing
Beehive Farm, Tattenhall, Cheshire CH3 9NT

DESCRIPTION
Five coarse fishing lakes in a pleasant rural setting surrounded by fields and a large orchard. Good views of the Cheshire Plain and Beeston Castle, particularly when the trees have shed their leaves. The lakes are well sheltered by hedges and earth banks and it is usually possible to find pegs out of the wind. At least 4 pegs on pool 1 are on a metalled path and provide all-year wheelchair access. All pegs on pools 1, 2, 4 and 5 have easy access in summer, but muddy areas may cause problems during wet weather.

FISH
Pools 1 and 2 have carp to low 20s, bream to 5lb+, roach to 2lb+, chub to 4lb, barbel to 2lb, crucian to 1lb, a few tench to 4lb and at least one 3lb+ goldfish. Pool 3 is similar but without the chub and barbel and the largest carp are probably mid-doubles. Pools 4 and 5 are match lakes with a large head of roach, bream and small carp. There are a few large carp in pool 5, including a well-known ghostie in the low 20s.

TACTICS
Best summer tactic is to fish meat or corn over a bed of pellet. Surface baits work well early in the season, but the carp wise up quickly. Maggot feeder with red maggot on a small (18-20) hook seems to outfish most methods in winter.
