Thamesmead ‘A’ Lake
Cotswold Water Park, Gloucestershire

DESCRIPTION
Thamesmead 'A' is reverse L-shaped and is the smallest of the club waters and very popular with members, particularly those who enjoy match or pleasure fishing. It is a very peaceful place to spend a few hours fishing. There is good pedestrian access all round the lake, with limited parking close to some swims. However cars must NOT be driven past the 'No vehicles beyond this point' signs, anybody caught doing so may be disciplined by the Club. The banks are gently sloping and even though there are no specifically designated wheel chair access swims, much of the lake is suitable, with care, for the less able-bodied angler to fish from.

FISH
The Lake contains fish of all species. Bream have been caught in to double figures and tench up to 9lb. Some members fish for the roach, with roach of a pound or more being caught occasionally. A specimen roach of 2lb 11oz was caught in September 2007. There are plenty of perch, mostly small, although the lake did produce a perch of over 4 lbs a few years ago. The lake holds both common and mirror carp, as well as, a good head of pike. One reason for the quality of the fish in the lake, is the signal crayfish, but although they can be a bit of a nuisance at times to the carp fishermen, they do not seem to bother those members fishing for other species too much.
