River Wear
between Durham City and Franklin Prison

DESCRIPTION
Felling Fly Fishing Club has 2.5 miles of water on the River Wear, between Durham City and Franklin Prison. Although less popular than other venues, this stretch of the Wear offers first class angling for sea trout and also provides salmon, trout and grayling fishing of a high standard. The Club now (2007) has fishing lower down the river known as Moorhouse Woods by the National Trust but shown on O.S maps as Rainton Park Wood. For the 2005-2006 season the Club formed a Coarse Fishing section of Associate Members, as an experiment. The matter was reviewed at the 2006 A.G.M. and it was agreed to continue the section on a permanent basis. Coarse members are now allowed to fish the Moorhouse Woods stretch from October 2008.
