Bowdon, Altrincham, Cheshire

Little over a hundred years ago the Bollin was a well known Trout river running through some of Cheshire’s best country estates and of course it was part of the sporting scene of these estates. During the 1950’s it suffered huge pollution problems and much of the river was un-fishable. I am glad to say due to the efforts of angling clubs and environment agencies the River Bollin is becoming a very good fishery with Trout to 8lb being recorded. Sea Trout and Salmon are now finding their way into the river this is definitely a fishery of the not to distance future and well worth investing into now. Don’t be put off by the banking, this river is massively under used so make your own pegs. For the adventurous this river will turn up some big surprises
