Donnington Grove
This is the classic example of a small chalkstream; not too wide, good pace to the flow & exceptional water quality – in fact, the Lambourn has the coldest water of any southern chalkstream that makes it ideal for spawning, with a good head of wild trout.
This a wading beat, for which we recommend chest waders. There is unique flint folly for a Fishing Cabin beside the river & the Capability Brown 5 acre ornamental Grove Lake, which takes its flow from the river. Fishing on the Grove Lake is part of the package; we lightly stock the lake with some resident rainbows, which can provide an interesting diversion from the river!
The fishing is part of the Donnington Grove Country Club that has an 18-hole golf course. Golf & fishing packages are available on request from us or visit www.donnington-grove.com for more details; the hotel will refer you back to check the fishing dates. John Stephens, our resident Fishing Guide/Instructor may be booked by the day, with tackle, waders & flies provided.
