Birds Green Fishery has three fantastic fishing lakes each with their own character and appeal, set in the heart of the Essex countryside. Between them they offer a range of fishing, which attracts a cross section of visitors from specimen anglers to match anglers and families. Birds Green fishery really does cover every eventuality offering everything from full English Breakfasts in the Cafe, to the onsite Tackle shop, 2 specimen Carp Lakes and one of the Counties best Match fisheries. Top Lake is the specimen Carp fishing lake, and is available on a Day Ticket with night fishing for members. The Lake is approximately 2 acres with several fish nearing 30lbs with an average weight of about 15lbs, with depths averaging 6ft making it a great all year water. Bottom Lake is a bit more of a mixed fishery, dominated still mainly by Carp; Bottom Lake also offers fantastic Roach and Tench fishing as well. Bottom Lake holds a much larger head of Carp than Top Lake, but with a slightly lower average weight of about 11lbs. Bridge Lake is our Match and pleasure fishery offering the potential for exceptionally large bags of fish, Bridge Lake is heavily stocked with single figure Carp, 5lb+ Tench, specimen Roach, Rudd and Perch and offers the real chance of some cracking coarse fish with Roach over 3lbs, Perch over 4lbs, Tench over 9lbs, Carp over 20lbs and Crucian Carp over 4lbs. The guys in the shop combine over 50years specimen fishing experience and go out of their way to ensure you are in the best possible position to bag plenty of Birds Green Carp!

Tactics
The fish in Top Lake have seen most rigs and bait and do not throw themselves in the net, but they are more than catchable on good quality frozen Boilies, Meat, Corn and Maggot. Zig Rigs, Method Feeders, and single hook baits all work well. With regard to features, look for hard areas amongst the light silt and neglect the margins at your peril. Traditional methods work very well on Bottom Lake with worms and big bunch of Maggots, taking their fair share of fish. Oily pellet, Method feeders, PVA bags and crushed Boilie also account for an awful lot of fish. Bottom Lake is very much a runs water, with a great head of 20lb + fish. With regards to the Roach and Tench, Maggot, Bread flake and Corn are the most successful methods
