The Royalty Fishery offers some of the finest game and coarse fishing in the U.K with a reputation of quality specimens of which barbel and chub are the favourite quarry for anglers who visit our venue. If you are after a challenge, please feel free to visit the Royalty, where the atmosphere is happy and friendly. The regular anglers are more than happy to give advice on how to approach the fishery on tactics and equipment which is required for the best possible chance of success. The Royalty Fishery is by no means easy, but with hard work, skill and of course a touch of luck, you will reap the rewards of quality fish, which fight like Trojans and are in tremendous condition.

Tactics
Pointers to help at the Royalty Fishery - Use a minimum of 8lb breaking strain line to combat the thick weed beds. Mastering the art of rolling meat will definitely increase your catch rate for barbel. It will also produce for many other species - vary your bait. Watercraft and experience are essential to achieve good results. Probably 80% of my fish are caught through observation. If more time is spent looking, rather than for fishing, a distinct pattern of feeding times and patrol routes will become apparent. Polaroid's are vital for stalking. They also reduce the strain on your eyes on a bright summer's day. Showing respect for fish is so important! Take time to return a fish back to the water, nursing it until it swims away totally revived and in the best of health to fight another day. In some swims an unhooking mat is needed to avoid any harm to the fish. If any fish are captured and harmed in any way, the use of antiseptic such as 'KLIN-IK' made by Kryston is ideal for sores and abrasions to give them a helping hand to a full recovery.
